WELLINGTON, FL (WFLX) - Leaders in Wellington are scrambling to find a new attorney as lawsuits continue to pile up.
The village council recently fired Jeff Kurtz after nearly a decade on the job. An interim attorney is expected to take over in two weeks, but no plan has been finalized beyond that.
Vice Mayor Howard Coates calls the move "borderline reckless" because of the unresolved legal cases.
Last year alone, the village spent about $460,000 on legal services and another $670,000 on major litigation.
