DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Two customers were killed during an armed robbery in Delray Beach early Sunday morning, according to Officer Jeffrey Messer with the Delray Beach Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday at the Community Market in the 900 block of West Atlantic Avenue.

According to police, witnesses stated that two armed men entered the store and began shooting semi-automatic handguns at employees and customers.

Police confirm two customers were shot in the Market.

One victim was pronounced dead on scene. The second victim died after being transported to Delray Medical Center's Trauma Unit, says Messer.

Police say the two armed men demanded cash from the register and pistol whipped an employee as he attempted to cooperate.

The armed subjects fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash.

Police released descriptions of each suspect:

Suspect one is a black man about 5'06-5'08" tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark jacket and a dark hat with a red bill.  A white t-shirt could be seen under his jacket, and he had on dark long pants.  He was also wearing dark shoes with light colored soles.

Suspect two is a black man, slightly taller than the first subject.  He was wearing a light gray jacket and dark shorts that reached below his knees.

Both men wore bandanas covering their faces.

Police confirm that this incident is very similar to another armed robbery that happened in Delray Beach on Dec. 22nd around 7:30 p.m. at 1100 block of West Atlantic Avenue, less than two blocks away from most recent incident.

Both subjects were armed with semi automatic handguns and are to be considered armed and dangerous!

The Delray Beach Police Department is currently attempting to notify all family members of the deceased subjects of this incident.  Once complete, their names will be made public.

Anyone with information on this of any other crime is asked to contact Detective Joseph Hart at (561) 6220, or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 458 TIPS.
