TALLAHASSEE, FL (WFLX) - A bill, banning texting and driving in Florida, may be a step closer to becoming law.
A Senate panel approved the bill Wednesday. It outlaws texting by drivers, but exempts police and other emergency vehicles. It also allows police to cite drivers for texting only after they've been pulled over for another violation, such as speeding.
The proposed law has a long way to go, and is expected to face strong challenges in the house.
