Donations being accepted for Drake memorial

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) -- A fund has now been started to fund a memorial for a police dog who had to be put down after he was shot by burglars.

A kickstart fund is now accepting donations for the Drake memorial.

Drake was killed when his owner's home was broken into in late 2012 and the dog was shot multiple times.

According to the fund's organizer, the money will help ensure all K9 officers receive recognition after their service is up and it will also go to a campaign to lobby for legislation that will create bill of rights for the dogs providing them with health benefits.

You can donate at and search "remembering Drake" or at under the Drake memorial.
