Sgt. accused of bringing targets resembling Trayvon Martin to training session

PORT CANAVERAL, FL (WFLX) - A former Port Canaveral police sergeant says he's innocent. He was fired for bringing targets resembling Trayvon Martin to a police firearms training session.

Ron King released a video on YouTube. In it, he says, he didn't offer the targets for others to shoot at, and no derogatory comments were made.

The interim CEO of the Canaveral Port Authority says two officers and another employee say they saw King offer up the Trayvon Martin target. "This individual must be either very stupid or have a lot of hatred -- either one is not acceptable," said John Walsh.

The CEO offered an apology to Martin's parents. Martin' s family says use of the target is "reprehensible".
