WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX)-- JCPenney, the only retail store left standing after the Palm Beach Mall was demolished, has closed their doors earlier than expected.
Originally JCPenney reps said they wanted to stay open, but decided to shut down after sales decreased.
JCPenney and Firestone will be torn down and the first phase of the Palm Beach Outlets, which includes 80 to 100 stores, are expected to be up by February.
So far, Whole Foods is the first store committed to locating on the property.
The Palm Beach Mall and JCPenney opened back in 1967.
