Jamel Laneé is happy to be back in sunny South Florida where her news career started.

Jamel was born in Philadelphia and moved to the Sunshine State at a young age.

She went to high school in Jacksonville and attended Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee.  Her degree is in Physical Education, Parks and Recreation, but her love for news and how it informs people, prompted her to continue her education.

She took courses at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in South Florida and interned with several news stations afterwards.

Jamel's first job in the business was at WSVN as an assignment desk assistant.

After a year on the desk, she moved to Gainesville to work at WCJB as a general assignment reporter.

After two years of Gator chomping, Jamel moved to Huntsville, Alabama and worked as a morning reporter for WAFF 48 News.

She is an active member with the Boys and Girls Club, National Association of Black Journalist and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Don't be afraid to say hello if you see her out and about and if you have any story ideas, feel free to email her.
