Turnpike lanes reopen after rollover crash By Rachel Leigh | June 3, 2013 at 3:31 PM EST - Updated July 25 at 8:30 PM VERO BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A rollover accident shut down the Florida Turnpike in both directions Monday morning. UPDATE: At noon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported one northbound lane and all southbound lanes were open. EARLIER STORY: A rollover accident shut down the north and southbound lanes of the Turnpike at mile marker 178 west of Vero Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The accident happened at approximately 10:20 a.m. -- just four miles south of the Fort Drum Service Plaza. Lanes were blocked as the Lifestar fire rescue helicopter landed. One person was airlifted to a local hospital, according to Florida Highway Patrol dispatchers. Six people are believed to be in the vehicle which flipped in the accident. Copyright 2013 WFLX.
