PSL officer rescues incapacitated driver

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - A Port St. Lucie police sergeant's quick thinking helped prevent a car crash and saved the life of an incapacitated driver in Port St. Lucie, according to authorities.

On Saturday June 8,  Port St. Lucie Police Sergeant John Holman saw a driver slumped over the steering wheel of her 1999 Gold Saturn, according to a police report.

The driver, identified by police as Jessica McGill, was traveling south on S.W. California Boulevard through the intersection of S.W. Crosstown Parkway.

Out of fear for the safety of the driver and other motorists Sergeant Holman pulled his police cruiser in front of the Saturn allowing the car to bump into the rear of his car, according to authorities.

Sergeant Holman was able to bring the Saturn to a stop and prevent the car from crashing into other cars.

St. Lucie County Fire Rescue transported the driver to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There was no damage to the cars and sergeant Holman was not hurt during this heroic act, according to Port St. Lucie Police.
