Father's Day Weekend: We enjoyed the benefits of having a strong high pressure centered over our heads for Father's Day Weekend. This made it possible to enjoy more sun than clouds with somewhat low humidity and no rain.
More Humidity & More Rain: Additional soggy weather is ahead for us today and Tuesday. It won't rain all day, but I expect numerous scattered rain and storms.
A couple of factors are making this happen. First, that high pressure ridge has moved off the east coast and a southerly flow of moisture around that ridge of high pressure has increased the humidity level for us. Also, a weakness (small disturbance) in the upper-level wind flow is the lone spark needed to get numerous showers and storms to develop.
Severe Storms Or No?: Even though storms are a part of our forecast today, we don't have the necessary upper-level environment to get widespread, destructive storms to happen today (thankfully). Still, I won't rule out the possibility of a severe thunderstorm warning or two given the recent bouts with severe storms in our area.
