FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - A Fort Pierce teenager remains at St. Lucie Juvenile Detention Center. Deputies say he shot and killed another teen.
Due to the severity of the charges against him, we are naming the suspect, 15-year-old Demetrius Osbourne.
Authorities say he shot 17-year-old Devontae Dukes on North 33rd Street and Avenue N in Fort Pierce Saturday.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says Dukes was riding his bicycle with his brother when he was shot in the stomach.
One Fort Pierce resident says, in his neighborhood, the ages of victims and alleged gunmen seem to be lowering. "It used to be a lot of times the ages of these fatalities would range within, I would say, 18 to 21 and up. Now it's like, they're getting younger and younger."
Osbourne is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The state attorney's office will decide whether he will be charged as an adult.
