Chantal is a tropical storm that will be moving into the Caribbean mid-week. It is set to hit Hispaniola, and potentially weaken significantly as it moves over high terrain late week. Once that happens, it's tough for models to predict its next move. Florida looks like the likely landfall point in the U.S. right now, but the storm could ride along the east coast. It will probably be a tropical depression by the weekend.
We definitely don't need the rain from it, but we could get some rain if it makes landfall in Florida and moisture gets transported north. If the storm rides up the coast, that would mean a bit less rain for us. It's really early to call, but we'll be watching. It would potentially impact the Carolinas by late weekend/early next week.
