TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A body found in the basement of a home on East Streicher Street in north Toledo last week has been identified as a missing man.
Police say the body is that of 22-year-old Christian Snow-Veley. Snow-Veley was reported missing by his family on May 22. On July 12, police asked for the public's help locating Snow-Veley. It is unclear at this point when Snow-Veley died, but police did say the body was partially decomposed when it was found on July 31.
The Lucas County Coroner Office says Snow-Veley died of multiple gunshot wounds. Deputy Coroner Dr. Cynthia S. Beisser has ruled the case a homicide.
Two men attempting to remove asbestos from the home found the body under a blanket at the bottom of a stairway. The home was set to be demolished after the asbestos was removed.
Snow-Veley's grandmother says the hardest part of all, is his son, Christian Jr., will never get to know his father. She feels he didn't deserve to die like this.
"I feel bad. I feel lonely. I feel empty. I feel like it was an unnecessary death. We just want closure for our family. What's done is done. We can't change what's done, but we can believe that this will reveal itself," said Ethel Edwards.
Snow-Veley's family will hold a vigil in the 400 block of East Streicher Street at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
