    Alabama’s Chandler Taylor has been selected to the roster for the eighth annual College Home Run Derby at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Neb., on Saturday, July 1, Intersport announced today. Taylor is one of six men’s college baseball players selected for the event that will air live on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. CT. He was invited to take part in the College Home Run Derby after being recognized as one of the top power hitters in college baseball.

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

In west Alabama, nearly two dozen people face gun and drug charges after a coordinated crackdown.

The ATF, Tuscaloosa Police and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office seized more than 40 firearms from 19 suspects wanted in connection to violent crimes. Officials say roughly 25 guns were taken from one suspect alone and U.S. Attorney Joyce White Vance adds that many of the firearms have been used during crimes.

The following suspects were arrested from the Tuscaloosa area:

Matthew Sims, 27, of McCalla.

Michael Barrett, 42, of Gordo.

Florencewel Welch, 38, of Tuscaloosa.

Timothy Wooley, 20, of Tuscaloosa.

Raregus Rice, 29, of Tuscaloosa.

LaJohnagan Sterling, 22, of Tuscaloosa.

Jeff Fulton with the ATF says the arrests are part of an 8-month investigation. There are three additonal suspects who have not yet been arrested.
