(WFLX) - Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation officers have been busy apprehending lobster poachers in South Florida.
On the first week of lobster season, officers in the Florida Keys charged five men with possession after they discovered the poachers had 399 lobster tails.
According to a post on the MY FWC Facebook page, this is 249 over the bag limit for five people in five days.
A second case in the waters of Biscayne National Park led to the discovery of 86 spiny lobsters.
The commercial fisherman in this case were charged with multiple resource violations including harvesting spiny lobster from an illegal habitat.
All of the lobsters in the second case were returned back to the ocean, according to officials.
