BEDFORD, OH (WOIO) -

A 57-year-old woman is accused of driving drunk and slamming into a motorcycle rider, causing serious injuries.

The accident happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Columbus and Washington in Bedford.

Police say Venita Arthur turned left in front of the motorcyclist, knocking him off his bike.

He was rushed to Hillcrest Hospital with a broken pelvis bone, collarbone and wrist.

Arthur allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind her license plate.

Bedford Police Officers say her car was also leaking transmission fluid and officers followed the fluid trail for about four blocks, before finding Arthur's disabled vehicle.

Officers confronted her and say she failed the field sobriety tests.

The Bedford Heights woman is now charged with failure to stop, right away when turning left, ovi and aggravated vehicular assault.
