(WFLX) - A Florida teacher is facing animal cruelty charges after his students saw him stuff his puppy in the trunk of a hot car.
The students told a resource officer who then rescued the 4-month-old puppy.
Matthew Emans said he put the dog in the trunk because he was only supposed to work a half-day, but according to the school, Emans was scheduled to work the entire day.
When resource officers had the teacher open the trunk of his Mercedes, they found the dog gasping for air.
Emans faces one count of animal cruelty and faces up to one year in prison.
