"Chicks Dig Bigs" Campaign Asks Women to Help Recruit Male Volunteers
BOSTON, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- A new survey from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay (BBBSMB) found that nine in ten women (93%) are more likely to admire a guy who volunteers with kids. Knowing that women can have a huge influence on the men in their lives, BBBSMB is looking to women to help with its latest effort. The "Chicks Dig Bigs" campaign asks women to encourage a guy in their life to consider becoming a Big Brother to one of more than 800 young boys in Massachusetts Bay who are currently waiting for a mentor.
"The number of boys who need a Big Brother will continue to rise unless we inspire more local men to volunteer just a few hours a couple times a month," said Wendy Foster, Chief Executive Officer, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. "That's why we are asking women to call on that special guy in their life – be it a brother, husband, significant other, son or friend – and urge him to help make a difference in a child's life."
With the help of local women, the Chicks Dig Bigs campaign aims to provide boys with an invested, caring adult mentor. BBBSMB survey findings show that women admire and respect a guy who volunteers with youth.
