Eight teams were dwindled down to six Monday, and by Tuesday evening, those six were down to four at the Region 1-AAAA softball tournament.
All six teams hoping to earn that state playoff spot.
The first team to clinch that spot: the Monroe Lady Tornadoes.
They outscored Dougherty 26-12 in an elimination game.
The Worth County Lady Rams are also in. They take care of Westover 10-5. The Lady Pats are out.
In the showdown between top seeds, Crisp County shut out Cairo, 5-0.
The Lady Cougars reserve a spot in the title game.
In the final elimination game of the day, Worth County beats Monroe, 7-1.
The Lady Tornadoes will be the region's #4 seed in the state playoffs.
That sets up a semi-final matchup between Cairo and Worth County Wednesday at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to face Crisp County that night at 6 p.m.
