PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - Should State Road 7 be constructed to connect with Northlake Boulevard? It's a hot topic for many residents in the Acreage and surrounding communities.
It's been a year and a half since a public meeting was held for residents to share their views on the construction project. We spoke with FDOT administrators who told us they have no idea when they will release its findings.
Right now, construction crews are working on the State Road 7 extension from Persimmon to 60th Street. That phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
Then, crews are planning to work on paving 60th Street West to Royal Palm Beach Boulevard, but the big disagreement is should State Road 7 connect with Northlake Boulevard.
"We haven't lost one ounce of conviction," said Ibis resident Sal Faso. "Many communities are opposed to it."
"The project needs to be completed all the way to Northlake," said Jim Shallman with the Indian Trails Improvement District.
The mayor of West Palm Beach, Mayor Muoio says she is against the State Road 7 connecting with Northlake Boulevard.
She is worried about the water for the city and added traffic problems. She also spoke to the governor last month about her concerns.
