Dog beach opens in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, FL (WFLX)--  The City of Boca Raton is opening their recently-approved "dog beach" on Friday.

The stretch of sand where dogs can roam will be at the North end of Spanish River Park between lifeguard towers 18 and 20.

The dog park is open 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and then 5 p.m. to sunset. Dogs will only be allowed on the beach Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Weekend passes are $10 and available at the Spanish River Park gatehouse.

A yearly pass is $30 for Boca Raton residents and $165 for non-residents.

Annual permits are available at the Boca Raton Community Center, James A. Rutherford Community Center and Sugar Sand Park Community Center.

Pet owners will have to have a permit.
