Turnpike reopens after deadly wrong-way crash

STUART, FL (WFLX) - The southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike have reopened at Martin Downs Boulevard in the Stuart area after a wrong-way deadly crash previously had lanes shut down.

We have learned the victim is a Fort Pierce man.

A sedan traveled the wrong direction of the Turnpike crashing into a semi truck.

The driver of the truck did not suffer any injuries.

There were two 911 calls notifying police of the wrong-way driver, and a FHP trooper tried to intercept the vehicle but was too late.

After the collision, the semi truck dragged the car approximately 500 feet, and there is a significant amount of debris surrounding the area.

The accident occurred at mile marker 130.
