40 million affected by Target security breach

(WFLX) - If you shopped at Target on Black Friday, check your bank statements. The Secret Service is currently investigating a possible security breach at Target stores across the country.

The breach involves customers' personal credit card information that's stored on the black magnetic stripe on the back of the card.

Initially, it was thought the possible breach occurred after Black Friday up until December 6, this according to security Web site Krebs on Security.com. Now, they believe, the breach may have took place up to December 15.

Breach response experts say companies are breached all the time, but what makes the big difference is how quickly the company reacts to letting its customers know and bring in help to address the breach.

Not all customers who shopped with Target. Security experts say, the breach may not affect online shoppers.

If there's a concern, check your statements and call your credit card company.
