STUART, FL (WFLX) - We are six days away from Christmas, and there are still some local families who don't have a way to put toys under their trees.
Martin County's Toys for Tots is asking for your help as time is running out to help make Christmas special for 3,000 kids.
Parents in need are coming in Thursday shopping for age appropriate toys for their family. More than 250 volunteers have packed non-perishable foods and lots of toys for families to choose from.
The organization needs more than 9,000 toys to make this holiday special. That's why more than 200 toys are still needed. "Zero to four [years old] would like baby toys, toys that they can pull along, cars trucks, all of that they love it. And then our next group is always the older kids, boys and girls from nine to 13. We still service them even though it is Toys for Tots," said Amy Moyer with White Doves Toys for Tots volunteer.
The White Doves Toys for Tots needs toys for babies and also for children between the ages of 9 and 13. You can drop them off at the Martin County Fairgrounds Thursday or Friday during the day. Friday is the last day for families to pick up their toys.
