Police: Minivan cuts off motorcyclist killing one

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - Port St. Lucie Police were called to the intersection of SE Green River Parkway and SE Charleston Drive to investigate a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a minivan Monday morning.

A 46-year-old woman, identified as Donna Sue Scarberry of Port St. Lucie, was riding a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling south on SE Green River Parkway approaching the intersection of SE Charleston Drive.

At the same time, Wilnick Cherisma, 52, of Port St. Lucie, was driving a grey 1999 Toyota minivan traveling north on SE Green River Parkway and was attempting to turn west on to SE Charleston Drive.

As the minivan turned, police said, Cherisma cut off the motorcycle resulting in the bike striking the right front quarter panel of the van.

The crash ejected Scarberry causing the motorcycle to burst into flames.

St. Lucie County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Cherisma and his 14-year-old passenger were not injured.

That intersection is currently closed as police investigate the scene.
