PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - Gov. Rick Scott is in Palm Beach County trying to get a message to Washington and to the president.
Scott was on Palm Beach Island Thursday calling for President Obama to hault, what he calls, 'unreasonable' increases to national flood insurance rates.
Eight days ago, Scott sent a letter to the White House seeking a meeting to discuss flood insurance rates and calling on him to prevent increases on Florida homeowners.
The president has yet to respond. "We need to get less talk out of Washington. We need to get more action out of Washington," said Scott. "The president has the power to stop these rate increases and has elected not to do it."
The Flood Insurance Reform Bill received widespread support from members of Congress, including most from Florida, before the president signed it into law.
