Police have arrested two men they believe assaulted a man early Sunday morning at a Prescott park.

The 42-year-old victim from Prescott told police he noticed two men and a dog loitering near the La Guardia Bridge area of Granite Creek Park about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Prescott police.

The victim said one of the men "blindsided" him. He said he was hit on the left side of his face and was knocked unconscious.

When he regained consciousness, he walked to a grocery story near Granite Creek Park and called police.

Police reported the victim was bleeding from his mouth and nose. He was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center and later flown to a Phoenix area hospital where doctors determined he had several facial fractures, including a broken orbital bone.

Prescott police officers checked the area around Granite Creek Park Sunday but were unable to locate anyone.

On Monday night, Prescott police were called to an Albertson's grocery store for two men who appeared intoxicated, were using offensive language and reportedly threatening employees and customers.

Andrew Ross, 22, and Eric Grudzien, 31, were both taken into custody.

Prescott police said an officer noticed the men matched the description of the assault in Granite Creek Park.

Police said when questioned, Ross admitted to the assault, saying he had punched the victim three or four times because the victim was allegedly "verbally abusing him."

Ross was arrested for felony aggravated assault and booked into Yavapai County Jail.

Grudzien was arrested for misdemeanor threats and disorderly conduct.
