PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police have identified a man who was trapped and killed in a recreational vehicle fire Tuesday afternoon.
Kenneth Moore, 57, was unable to escape the burning RV in front his home about 3:30 p.m.
The victim's nephew was able to escape, said Capt. Scott Walker of the Phoenix Fire Department.
The nephew said they had been working on the RV outside their home and while moving it out of the driveway, heard a loud boom, which led to the fire, according to Phoenix fire investigators.
The nephew was seriously burned, but is expected to be OK following treatment at the Arizona Burn Center. He suffered second- and third-degree burns to his upper body.
First responders got the call and rushed to the scene near Interstate 17 and Northern Avenue.
"Our first unit was on scene in about three minutes, and when they arrived they had a large motor home well involved," Walker said. "About half the unit was actually fully involved in fire and smoke."
Walker said it appeared a mechanical failure sparked the fire.
A joint investigation is underway with Phoenix Police Department and Phoenix Fire Department.
