WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The mayor of West Palm Beach on Monday is meeting with several neighborhood leaders who want the 45th Street Flea Market shutdown, according to a report in the Palm Beach Post.
Residents living in Echo Lakes, Westfield and North Shore communities say the market has a negative impact on their area.
The market's been criticized as being a magnet for crime, prostitution and shootings, including a fatal shooting in September.
Last month, Mayor Jeri Muoio declared the market as a chronic nuisance. She gave its owners 30 days to clean up code violations.
Over the last six months, police have responded to more than 250 calls.
