Workers injured in crane, I-beam incident at FPL plant

INDIANTOWN, FL (WFLX) - Just before 11 a.m. Tuesday, two workers at the Florida Power and Light plant in Indiantown were injured.

Martin County Fire Rescue says there was an accident involving a crane and an I-beam.

FPL says a contractor Sterling Boiler is doing upgrades to the existing power plant.

The I-beam struck the contracted workers, according to fire rescue.

The department says one of the patients was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center's Trauma unit by air while the other was taken to the same facility by ground.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the contractor Sterling Boiler.
