WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - As shoppers flock to the new Palm Beach Outlets Friday, some drivers say they'll avoid the area because of potential traffic.
Starting Thursday, the intersections around the new outlet will be watched very closely by the city and Palm Beach County.
Traffic engineers will be monitoring 24-7 to decide which of the three major intersections they need to make the green lights longer.
The county says, although there was a mall here before, this is a completely different layout with different entrances. They need to see how things run starting Thursday through Sunday to see how traffic patters unfold.
The good news is changing the timing of the lights can happen instantly, so if traffic backs up on Palm Beach Lakes, engineers can make the green light longer right away to ease congestion.
