WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Detectives and crime scene investigators are on the scene of a homicide Monday in suburban West Palm Beach.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says they were called to the 1800 block of My Place Lane, near Okeechobee Boulevard and Haverhill Road, at 11:10 a.m.
Deputies found the body of a woman in her late 20s at that location.
The family says the victim is 27-year-old Horacia Simeus. They say she lived in the My Place complex for the past few years.
She worked at a nearby KFC for the last 10 years. The manager says they were like family. She says when Horatia didn't show up for work this morning they knew something was wrong.
Friends say she was three months pregnant. "She always wanted a baby. She wanted a baby and was heartbroken when she lost the last one, and she was excited that she's three months pregnant and gets to have a baby, now this, so it's like, my people are pretty upset," said Karen Mattila who worked with the victim.
PBSO says a person is in custody in connection with the case.
