ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A 4-day-old baby girl was left at the St. Lucie County fire station along Midway Road Tuesday night.
Firefighter-paramedic Ryan Sapp was there when a man dropped off the child. "The man said he wasn't the father, and he was there because the mother wasn't able to take care of the infant," Sapp told our news partners Scripts Treasure Coast Newspapers.
Fire stations are considered safe zones where people may leave infants, 7 days old or younger, without any questions being asked.
We're told the baby girl is okay.
