Restaurants can run the risk of serving sour and moldy food if they fail to use date labels. This week, the Lucas County Health Department found three eateries doing just that.
Nine violations served at B.M. Chen on South Reynolds Road in Toledo. Inspectors found no date labels on food, food on the floor and a dish machine not dispensing chlorine.
In Sylvania on Main Street, 11 violations were handed out at B Gump's 101 restaurant and lounge. Inspectors found no date labels on food, build-up on hood filters, open bags of bulk food items and vacuum-packaged fish thawing improperly. Inspectors also noted a sink not stocked with soap and paper towels, but the violation has since been corrected.
Seven violations racked up at the Lagrange Diner on Lagrange Street in Toledo, including no date labels on food. Other violations included no soap stocked at a sink, an employee jacket stored on a food rack, and food on the floor. All were corrected on the spot.
