PALM CITY, FL (WFLX) - Southwest Citrus Boulevard in Palm City is closed in both directions due to a wildfire off Markel Street.
The fire spans seven acres, according to the Florida Fire Service and is 50 percent contained.
Martin County Fire Rescue has prevented three homes from catching fire.
According to the fire service, a barn was damaged. It says an RV was inside the barn and a propane tank exploded when flames reached the building.
The fire is centered in a wooded area and is being fought from the air and the ground.
New fires are being created as loose leaves on fire are blown by the wind to fresh locations. The Forest Service's Super Huey helicopter is dropping water on spot fires.
One firefighter has been injured, but it's not clear how he was hurt or his condition.
Martin County Sheriff's Deputy Christine Polizzi and Deputy Michael Libasci rescued two dogs from a barn threatened by the fire.
The fire services says low humidity and dense woods make suppressing the fire a challenge.
