WHITEHOUSE, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says two people are dead after an accident just south of Whitehouse.

The crash happened sometime before 3 p.m. on Monday, April 28 at the intersection of Heller Road and Neapolis Waterville Road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the car operated by 16-year-old student driver Joseph Franks ran a stop sign at the intersection on Heller Road, striking the passenger side of a minivan operated by Kathleen Woods.

Franks was killed in the accident, as was driving instructor 48-year-old Thomas Smith. They were in a Key Driving School vehicle.

Smith was the pastor of his church, Grace Bible Fellowship.

"A very good guy. He's got a family and four kids. We're his family. We're not related but we're like family. Not only is he my pastor, he's my friend. What can I say? He's going to be very missed very much," said Robert Houser.

Woods was treated at Saint Luke's Hospital for minor injuries.

Highway patrol on the scene said everybody involved had their seatbelts on.
