Dehumidifiers recalled because they can overheat

Posted:

(WFLX)- An appliance maker is renewing its recall for more than two million

dehumidifiers.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the update Friday.

The dehumidifiers are made by Gree Electric Appliances of China.

They were initially recalled back in September because they can overheat and catch fire.

But the C-P-S-C says people didn't heed the warning and the reported incidents of overheating dehumidifiers had jumped 400 percent since then.

The recall includes many different sizes and brand names... Including some G-E, Kenmore and Frigidaire models.

The C-P-S-C is urging people who own the recalled dehumidifiers to turn them off and unplug them immediately.

Owners should contact Gree for a refund.
