PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - New court documents are revealing details about a Port St. Lucie woman charged with hitting and killing a high school senior walking to her bus stop. Taped interviews between Ivette Nieves-Barsuglia and detectives were released Wednesday.
In them, Nieves-Barsuglia repeatedly denies to detectives she was behind the wheel of the car that hit Dayanna Gil in April. "If I had hit somebody, I would have been out there giving them CPR and first aid OK."
Court documents also say when Nieves-Barsuglia reached the Martin Correctional Institution where she worked, she asked two inmates to help fix her car. She faces several charges, including vehicular homicide.
Gil's parents picked up her high school diploma during graduation ceremonies last weekend.
