Woman accused of illegally performing medical procedures

STUART, FL (WFLX) - A former wellness center owner on the Treasure Coast faces up to 15 years in prison for performing medical procedures she wasn't licensed to perform. Thursday morning, Lynnette Blake pleaded no contest and agreed to face the consequences for posing as a doctor and treating patients without a license.

Blake owned the "Back to Eden Wellness Center" in Stuart when, investigators say, she gave medical treatment, like IV's, to her clients -- many of them dying from cancer.

"She came out pretending to be a doctor, and the reason we license our doctors is so they don't do any harm. That's the first thing of medicine. Also, we don't give false hope, and that's what she was doing."

Blake will be sentenced in August.
