Burned family members remain hospitalized

By Jeff Skrzypek

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A mother and her three children, badly burned in a Lake Worth house fire last week, remain hospitalized.

Relatives say they are awake, but will not be released from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for several days.

Their house on Chickasha Road remains boarded up and severely damaged.

A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy, who was driving by, saw the smoke and pulled the children to safety.

The boys, ages 13, 7 and 6, along with their mother, remain hooked to oxygen machines to help them breathe. "I want to see how my kids and family are doing, if they're okay. I don't think about the house, I'm thinking about my family first," father Eltony Herisse said.

Fire investigators say the cause of the blaze was due to an unspecified electrical malfunction near the electrical service entrance.
