PASCO COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - Police are investigating two home break-ins in the Tampa Bay area, where the homeowners ended up fighting back.
The first in Winter Haven where a man was at his mother's house when he heard her screaming. He confronted the burglar, and they ended up fighting in the kitchen. The man stabbed the intruder eight times, but it wasn't enough to stop him.
Police say he jumped head first out of a kitchen window -- trying to get away. Two neighbors were able to chase him down and police arrested him.
Then, about an hour away in Port Richey, a couple woke up to guns in their faces. Police say four men broke into their home, threatening to kill them demanding they hand over money.
The men took off with money and prescription pills, but, police say, they came back. This time the homeowner was ready for them -- shooting one of them in the back. Police say the other three ran off.
Three of the men were charged Thursday morning; one remains still on the loose.
