ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -

A detective with the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office says Scott Warren Henning, who escaped the Lenawee County Courthouse back on June 10, has turned himself in.

The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office says Henning escaped his holding cell at the courthouse as he was waiting for transportation to the jail when a door lock malfunctioned. The sheriff says Henning was sentenced to 93 days in the Lenawee County jail for Violation of Probation on a Reckless Driving charge.

Henning was on the run for 10 days before surrendering himself to deputies.

A family member transported Henning to the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department, where he turned himself in Friday afternoon.

Sheriff Jack Welch says that officers have discovered that Henning in fact broke a door lock in a holding area, which allowed him to escape. Welch says his office is preparing to charge Henning with criminal damaging and escape.

The sheriff's office originally said a door lock had malfunctioned. Now, they say Henning damaged the lock.
