WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Plans are moving ahead to build a city-operated charter school in West Palm Beach, Mayor Jeri Muoio said Wednesday. She wants to move ahead with the plans after reviewing FCAT scores in West Palm Beach.
"When I looked at the FCAT scores in the city they are appalling. Nobody should be happy with those, so we are going to move ahead with the charter school. I think we should also put together a campaign to help improve public schools in our city," said the mayor.
If the city's charter school is approved by the Palm Beach County School Board it would open in August of 2015.
