MIAMI (WFLX) - Same sex couples across Florida are waiting for a ruling from a Miami judge. Judge Sarah Zabel heard arguments Wednesday for and against same-sex marriage.
Six gay couples filed suit, including a Palm Beach couple, claiming the state's laws that keep them from marrying violate the U.S. constitution. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi's office says it will defend current law.
The judge says she is now considering both sides and says she will make a ruling in the next few days or next few weeks. Nineteen states have legalized same sex marriage and almost all others are currently facing similar lawsuits.
