LIMA, PERU (FOX) - Dutchman Joran van der Sloot, who is serving a 28-year-sentence in Lima for the murder of a Peruvian woman and who is a suspect in the death of a teenage U.S. girl, got married behind bars on Friday to a local woman pregnant with his child.

The 26-year-old Dutchman, who remains the chief suspect in the 2005 disappearance of American teen Natalee Holloway, tied the knot with Leidy Figueroa on Friday in a maximum security prison in Lima.

His lawyer said none of van der Sloot's relatives attended.

"It was a very simple ceremony. They made their respective vows, they signed the documents and that is all," said Maximo Altez, lawyer for van der Sloot.

He showed a wedding gift the Dutchman made for his wife. It was a painting showing a woman in a red dress standing on a beach.

Van der Sloot was sentenced to 28 years in prison two years ago for the 2010 murder of a Lima woman he met in a casino.

She was killed five years to the day after Holloway's disappearance in Aruba.
