GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -
A local mother is working to stop the violence after her teen was murdered back in March.

Six accused thugs have been charged for a gang shooting that killed innocent Davone Wright, whose mom is now trying to take back the streets. Her first target: parents.

"Obviously these kids were trouble. They were in gangs," said Davone's mother, Nequita Pierce.

Now, Pierce is calling out the parents of six teens facing charges.

Garfield Heights Police are pressing charges from murder to obstruction of justice. Some of the teens were just indicted as adults.

In  March, police say Davone was leaving an organized teen party when members of a gang went after another gang. Davone was not a gang member, but was shot in the head.

This week, his family appeared at 19 Action News' town hall meeting on taking back the streets. The family got active, first focusing on parents.

Davone's family is even researching changes in laws for parents to get punished when kids get busted, because moms shouldn't be punished seeing their kids shot.
