Police say truck deliberately smashed into a cyclist

RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Investigators say the driver of a truck, they've recovered, purposely hit 19-year-old Kijana Baxter while he was riding this bike Wednesday night in Riviera Beach, then drove off.

"I thought he was going to die. He was helpless. He was just shaking," said witness Deondre Morrison. Morrison and his family watched in horror as the truck smashed into the cyclist just feet from their home.

Police suspect it was deliberate saying the driver went out of his way to strike the victim. Witnesses say the driver of the truck popped the curb, knocked into this cement mailbox, hitting the cyclist before speeding away.

Investigators say the vehicle involved was then found just two blocks away, later discovering it had been reported stolen just the day prior. Because police feel the man behind the wheel is so dangerous, police spokesperson Rose Anne Brown says extra officers are on the streets to track down the hit-and-run driver.

Morrison says he's staying off his street until police find who's responsible.
