PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix police have identified the body found on Piestewa Peak on Tuesday.
Jack Peyton, 79, told a friend he was going to hike Piestewa Peak on Monday. That friend went to Peyton's apartment in Glendale on Tuesday but was unable to reach him, according to Glendale police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump.
Glendale police officers searched for Peyton or his vehicle but were not able to locate it, and were asked to check the Piestewa Peak area.
Peyton's vehicle was found in the Dreamy Draw parking lot and crews began searching by helicopter.
He got about halfway up the trail and fell into a ravine where his body was found, Crump said.
There are no signs of foul play, Crump said.
