CASA GRANDE, AZ (CBS5) -

A shoplifting call Tuesday night led Casa Grande police to a man wanted in connection with the stabbing of another man earlier in the day.

Police said they had been looking for 21-year-old Angel Luz since Tuesday morning after Adam Craig Lewis, 24, of Casa Grande, was found with multiple stab wounds in a Casa Grande apartment.

Lewis was rushed to Banner Casa Grande Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Phoenix area hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries, police said.

The shoplifting call came in about 8:15 p.m. from a Kmart store at 1214 E. Florence Blvd., police said. Luz was taken into custody and booked into the Pinal County jail and charges of aggravated assault were forwarded to the Pinal County Attorney's Office, police said.

Officers said they gathered significant evidence and witness information earlier in the day to identify Luz as the suspect in the stabbing.

Officers searched the area in the 400 block of West 10th Street but were unable to find Luz or the weapon used in the incident.
