Miami police chief prohibits officers from working at nightclubs

MIAMI (WFLX) - The Miami police chief is cracking down on his force by prohibiting officers from taking off-duty assignments at nightclubs. This after a police sergeant is being accused of getting drunk at popular South Beach hot spot "Mango's".

Next month, the police chief is pulling all his off duty officers from security jobs at clubs. Not everyone supports the move. "This is an over reaction and a great PR stunt by our chief. The residents and tourists should be afraid to come down here to visit any of these venues," says Alex Bello, president of the Miami Beach Fraternal Order of Police.

Club security will now be up to the establishment, and police will only be paid to do their on-duty work.
